In 2024-2025, La Transformerie reached an important milestone in its mission to eliminate food waste at source. On the strength of a collective strategic plan, we have clarified our orientations, structured our offer and increased the number of collaborations to act with even greater impact, from field to plate.

A consolidated vision and targeted actions

Our new action plan is based on five key priorities :

  1. Developing our support services for organisations (Zero Loss).
  2. Intensify our advocacy for structuring policies.
  3. Maximise the impact of our Rescapés products as awareness-raising tools.
  4. Promote the Food Systems Lab as a driver of innovation.
  5. Strengthen our internal capacities to support our growth.

In order to realise our vision and translate it into action, we strengthened and implemented several projects during the year. These initiatives illustrate the diversity of our actions and their impact, both on the ground and with those involved in the food system.

Perte Zéro: concrete and promising partnerships

Our Perte Zéro support service has seen strong growth this year, with major projects undertaken with Métro, Hydro-Québec, the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal and as part of projects supported by MAPAQ and the Retail Council of Canada. These collaborations demonstrate the relevance of our approach and the growing willingness of institutions to transform their food practices.

Les Rescapés : a powerful tool for raising awareness

Rescapés products, made from perfectly edible unsold goods, continue to play a central role in our mission. Rescapés has become a strategic lever for mobilising, raising awareness and reaching out to the general public and businesses. Workshops, conferences, gift packs and media campaigns have reached a wide audience.

The Food Systems Lab: a catalyst for circular innovation

Launched in partnership with CERIEC at ÉTS, the Food Systems Lab brings together more than 170 organisations to co-develop circular economy solutions. Current projects include ‘Circular Foods of Quebec’ certification, pooling tools, circularity indicators and educational programmes. This laboratory confirms our role as a structuring player at provincial level.

A collective impact and concrete results
  • 30,291 kg of unsold goods collected
  • 18,000 Rescapés jars produced
  • 174 organisations involved and 8 food innovation projects under development in the Food Systems Lab
  • More than 5,600 hours of volunteer work

Towards a fairer, more sustainable and resilient food supply

Thanks to the support of our partners, donors and volunteers, La Transformerie continues to demonstrate that it is possible to put a stop to food waste by focusing on innovation, collaboration and transforming practices. This annual report demonstrates our commitment to building a more circular and inclusive food system.
